About the event

Hailing from the South Wales Valleys and the outskirts of Cardiff, the Satellites have honed their skill over the last six years into a vibrant, tight punk rock outfit. The band play homage to bands like the Clash, the Ramones and the Sex Pistols but also feature little gems from the Damned, 999, the Jam, the Only Ones, the Buzzcocks and the Undertones. They also like to throw in a few ska classics by the likes of Madness and the Specials.

Each member of the band has a wealth of experience, in fact, Viv Snit (drums) and 'M' (lead guitar) toured for years with Mad Dog; one of the better rock bands to come out of Wales.

Another claim to fame for Viv is that he once stood in for 80s party pop group Black Lace. Gazz Bass (bass) has 'cut his teeth' in numerous bands including Ramones tribute (the Ramones Clones) and occasionally stands in for Merthyr's Oasis tribute Slide-Away-Sis.

Joe Satellites (vocals, rhythym guitar, sax) explains...'For years I have played in a number of bands starting back in the eighties with Scared of the Dark, followed by a number of stints playing Cabaret bands and even once a rock band who specialised in turning our original songs into Bon Jovi 'sound-a-likes!' Born in 1960 (old ba****d) I was at a pivotal age in 1977 to welcome the PUNK genre in all its glory! I am convinced that the music you listen to when you are seventeen stays with you for life! About ten years ago I decided that I had had enough of playing cabaret and rock covers and would concentrate on getting a punk band together to play the music that most moved me.

It took about five years to get a gigging Satellites band on the road - and a lot of people came and went for one reason or another. We have had a brief hiatus for two years but now we are back stronger than ever!!! Every member of the Satellites are committed talented musicians (well the other three lol) I feel blessed to have such good musicians and friends in the band.

If you remember the good old days of punk rock, I guarantee you will appreciate and love, yes LOVE, the Satellites sound!

To quote the man himself 'This goes out to punk rockers!'
